Mission, Philosophy, and Objectives

The Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary is a Seventhday Adventist institution of higher learning in Myanmar which is committed to prepare young people for the service of God and man through quality Christian education for this life and the life to come.

Philosophy

  1. The educational philosophy of MUAS is to believe in the development of the whole person through the combined effort of God and man towards God’s original plan for mankind.

    The educational philosophy of MUAS includes the following guiding principles:
    1. A belief in an eternal, loving, and personal God who is all-powerful and the source of life, truth, beauty and Christian values.

  2. Promotion of the need for restoration of God’s image in human beings through Christian education, which is by perfecting faith in Jesus Christ so that the divine purpose in His creation might be realized.

  3.  Attention to the harmonious development of the physical, the social, the mental and the spiritual powers which make a student a mature, rational being for mutual relationship in brotherhood and the joy of service in both this life and the hereafter.

  4. Provision of a conducive environment to the realization of self as the dwelling place of God’s Spirit to reflect a positive model that glorifies God and makes Him more real to others through godlikeness in character and a healthful lifestyle.

  5. Recognition of God’s communication through the Holy Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments and the Gift of Prophecy as divine revelation, which is the guiding principle for knowing God, fellowship, and companionship with Him in study and service.

 

Statement of Objectives.

As the ultimate goal of Christian education is to prepare each student for heaven, the Seminary approaches the ideals expressed in the preceding philosophy through following specific objectives to be met in the lives of the students:

  1. Spiritual: Students are encouraged to
    1. Love God and others;
    2. Demonstrate loyalty to God’s Commandments;
    3. Engage in private devotion and public religious activities of the Seminary;
    4. Lead in Bible studies and witnessing for Christ.
  2. Intellectual: Students are fostered to
    1. Develop their ability to think deeply and act skillfully and
    2. Pass written and oral tests satisfactorily.
    3. Store appropriate secular knowledge and tolls of learning at mastery level.
    4. Apply the things they have learned in the Seminary to the solution of practical problems in life.
    5. Interpret current world events in the light of Scriptural prophecy.
  1. Physical: Students are supported to
    1. Engage voluntarily in manual labor and other occupational activities with pride and self-respect.
    2. Engage in adequate daily exercise.
    3. Enjoy wholesome recreation and outdoor activities.
    4. Practice temperance and moderation in all aspects of life.
    5. Maintain the beauty and cleanliness of the Seminary campus.
    6. Promote health through a medical check-up at least once a year.
  2. Social: Students are expected to
    1. Accept others as friends, worthy of respect and of infinite value.
